The Delta Flyer runs into the Lokirrin, a species hostile to photonic life since a hologram uprising. When they capture Seven and Harry, Seven saves the Doctor by downloading his program into her Borg implants, allowing him to take control of her body. Living as Seven, the Doctor revels in food, drink and sensation, and catches the eye of Captain Ranek. On Voyager, meanwhile, Tuvok is undergoing pon farr and relying on a holographic recreation of his wife, T'Pel, but when Voyager agrees to stop using holodecks in Lokirrin space his treatment is cut short. When Seven briefly regains control, the two argue about the value of physical experience. On a date, the Doctor sedates Ranek and contacts Voyager, and Ranek is wounded in the clash that follows. By treating his wound, the Doctor shows that holograms need not be enemies. Seven later shares a meal with the Doctor through her senses, and Tuvok completes his treatment.
