Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Voyager's monthly data stream from Starfleet carries a holographic Reginald Barclay with exciting news: a geodesic fold between two red giants could bring the ship home, provided the shields are modified and the crew is inoculated. The Doctor oversees the preparations but grows uneasy about the inoculations, concerns the hologram brushes aside. On Earth, the real Barclay discovers that his transmission was intercepted. His girlfriend Leosa admits she has been working with a group of Ferengi who reprogrammed the hologram so they could steal Seven's Borg nanoprobes, and Barclay realises their plan will kill Voyager's crew. Posing as his own hologram, he tricks the Ferengi into believing the ship's defences have become lethal, and they close the fold in panic. The hologram tries to escape with Seven in a pod, but both are recovered. Voyager continues its long journey, Barclay adds security safeguards to his hologram, and Troi arranges a blind date for him.
