A Borg cube captures the Delta Flyer and takes its crew hostage, but the drones making demands of Voyager are not quite what they seem.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
A Borg cube seizes the Delta Flyer, taking Chakotay, Paris, Neelix and Kim captive. Voyager finds only five Borg life signs aboard. The adult drones were killed by a pathogen, and the survivors are adolescents released early from maturation chambers. Cut off from the Collective, they demand Voyager's deflector in exchange for the hostages. Seven negotiates and learns that the Collective has received their distress call and chosen to ignore them as damaged and irrelevant. She tries to persuade them to leave. Their leader, First, refuses to accept it and attacks Seven, and he is killed when the cube's systems fail. Seven stays with him as he dies. The other four children agree to come to Voyager with the hostages, where the Doctor removes their implants and Seven recovers their real names from the cube's records: Icheb, Mezoti, Azan and Rebi.
- 01Introduces Icheb, who recurs for the rest of the series.
- 02Icheb later appears in a flashback in Star Trek: Picard's “Stardust City Rag”, played there by Casey King.
- 03Mezoti comes from Norcadia, the system visited in the previous episode, “Tsunkatse”.
