Seven of Nine is slowly adapting to life as an individual, learning to eat solid food with Neelix's help and joining Janeway in Leonardo da Vinci's holographic workshop. But she is troubled by frightening visions of the Borg and of a large black bird, and the Doctor finds that reactivated nanoprobes are making Borg implants reappear on her body. During one vision, an implant breaks through her skin and she threatens to assimilate those around her. Drawn by what she believes is a Borg homing signal, Seven steals a shuttle and heads into the space of the B'omar, and Tuvok follows her. On a nearby moon they find the wreck of an old Federation ship, the Raven: the vessel on which Seven, as the child Annika Hansen, was assimilated along with her parents. The pair escape under B'omar fire. Back aboard, Janeway mentions that records of Seven's parents exist, and Seven decides that one day she will read them.
