Voyager picks up a distress call from Dejaren, a hologram alone aboard a damaged vessel, who says his organic crew died of a virus. The Doctor and Torres go across to help. The Doctor is delighted to meet a fellow hologram, but Dejaren is unstable, swinging between eager friendliness and open disgust for organics, whom he sees as weak and dirty, and he tries to win the Doctor over to his view. Exploring the ship, Torres discovers that the crew did not die of illness at all: Dejaren murdered them. He attacks her, and only her Klingon physiology keeps her alive despite an injury to her heart. Together she and the Doctor overload Dejaren's matrix with a high-voltage surge and escape, and the Doctor heals her wounds back in sickbay. On Voyager, meanwhile, Harry Kim's shy attempts to get closer to Seven of Nine end in mortification when she bluntly proposes that they skip straight to sex.
