A Case of Chiaroscuro

Una, M'Benga and Uhura take a shuttle into the Klingon-occupied Mat'aar system to retrieve a missing Starfleet probe. They succeed but are detected, and hide on the main planet, where colour cannot be perceived and the people live as if in 1940s Earth. Because Una closely resembles Nevette, a prominent Mat'aaran who is both a collaborator and a leader of the resistance, she steps into her role. Uhura is arrested and questioned by the Klingon commander Kor, and on her release brings back details of the Klingons' plans. Against M'Benga's advice, Una carries out Nevette's scheme to disrupt them and help some Mat'aarans escape, and the uprising succeeds. On the Enterprise, La'An suspects the probe has been sabotaged. It has not, but she uncovers covert transmissions, one showing Chapel covering up an illegal mercy mission by a Starfleet hospital ship. La'An agrees to keep the secret.
