Three months after the Gorn crisis, the repaired Enterprise is at Starbase One as the crew prepare for the Federation's centennial. Chapel returns from her research fellowship with archaeologist Dr Roger Korby, now her partner, leaving Spock quietly heartbroken. An unfamiliar Vulcan bartender serves Spock a drink, and the next morning reality has changed: everyone is busy planning Spock and Chapel's wedding. The same stranger keeps reappearing, now as an Andorian wedding planner. Korby alone senses something is wrong and confronts Spock, whose true memories return after he punches Korby. At the ceremony, Spock recites a poem Korby once read to Chapel, and her memories come back too. Together they confront the wedding planner, who turns out to be a childlike, all-powerful being from another dimension. His father arrives to scold him, the pair leave and reality is restored. The crew celebrate, except Ortegas, who is still haunted by the Gorn.
