A subspace experiment goes strangely wrong, and the Enterprise crew find themselves bursting into song about their deepest feelings.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
While the Enterprise studies a mysterious subspace fold, Uhura broadcasts a song into it. The result is an improbability field that compels the crew to sing their feelings aloud, like characters in a musical. Secrets spill out: Pike and Batel argue in song, Chapel reveals that her new fellowship matters more to her than her relationship with Spock, and La'An confesses her feelings to Kirk, who explains that he is involved with Carol Marcus, who is pregnant. As the field grows, a Klingon ship arrives threatening to destroy the fold, and its warriors are caught up in the music too. In the end the whole crew join in a joyful ensemble number celebrating their life of exploration, which collapses the field and ends the singing.
