The Elysian Kingdom

While surveying a nebula, the Enterprise loses warp power and the crew black out. Dr M'Benga wakes to find the ship transformed into the world of his daughter Rukiya's favourite fantasy book, with his crewmates acting out its story as kings, princesses, knights and wizards, unaware of who they really are. Hemmer, whose telepathy protects him, keeps his true self, and he and M'Benga set out to understand what is happening. They discover the nebula is a conscious being that sensed Rukiya's loneliness and built the story around her. Within the nebula her illness is cured, but it will return if she leaves. The nebula offers to take her into itself as a being of energy. Heartbroken, M'Benga lets her go, and sees a vision of Rukiya grown up, living a life of adventure with the nebula, which she calls Debra. The ship is released and its systems restored. Only M'Benga remembers, and he confides in Number One.
