Brink

The episode opens with a flashback to Asencia capturing Wesley Crusher. In the present, the Federation and the Vau N'Akat are on the brink of war. Gwyn proposes sending the Protostar crew, who are not Starfleet personnel and so less likely to provoke escalation, to rescue her father Ilthuran and find the source of Asencia's new weapons. Maj'el resigns from Nova Squadron to join them. On Solum, the younger Asencia, who has sided with the rebellion against her older self, reveals that Wesley is the source of the weaponry, and Gwyn splits the team to rescue both him and her father. Wesley is horrified: Ilthuran was meant to escape and lead the uprising himself, and Wesley had let himself be captured to trick Asencia into building the technology needed to fix the paradox. Cornered, Dal beams Wesley and Ilthuran to Voyager, and Wesley warns Janeway that he no longer knows what happens next.
