Following the spiral map, the Infinity reaches a planet hidden out of phase inside a nebula. Revealing it, the crew find a vast ziggurat, a statue of the Traveler and a sealed vault door. Inside waits Wesley Crusher, now a Traveler himself and their mysterious benefactor. He explains that because the Protostar never reached Tars Lamora, reality is caught in two states at once and is unravelling, and Gwyn, herself a paradox, is growing ever more unstable. Worse, the damage has drawn the Loom, cosmic creatures that feed on dying timelines and erase whatever they consume. As Wesley tries to protect the crew by aligning their quantum signatures, the Loom strike, freezing everyone except Wesley and Gwyn. The pair escape through the vault into a safe house resembling a 1960s Earth office, collect more temporal stabilisers and free their friends. Meanwhile Admiral Janeway, defying orders, follows the Infinity's warp trail through the Borg conduit and finds the same hidden planet.
