The Infinity crash-lands on war-torn Solum 52 years in the future, carrying Dal, Jankom, Zero and Maj'el. Spotting the Protostar nearby, they hide their Starfleet insignia, hoping to stay out of history's way, but they are soon captured and thrown into a cell with Captain Chakotay and his Aurelian first officer, Adreek-Hu. Using a hidden tricorder, Jankom remotely operates his confiscated gadget to open the cell, and the group stage a distraction so the two officers can reach the Protostar. In the rush, a phaser rifle is dropped. Chakotay grabs it, fights his way aboard and flies off with Adreek-Hu, so the Protostar will no longer arrive empty at Tars Lamora. In the present, Gwyn, backed by Ilthuran, challenges Asencia to the Va'Lu'Rah, and the two fight with telepathically formed weapons. Gwyn is close to winning when the altered timeline catches up with her: she begins phasing out of existence, and Asencia claims victory.
