Into the Breach, Part I

Admiral Janeway brings the young former Protostar crew aboard the newly launched USS Voyager-A as trainees, with the Doctor keeping an eye on them. Jankom heads to engineering, Zero to sickbay and Murf to security training, and Rok thrives in her new post, while Dal is stuck with command studies and longs for some action. The ship's mission is to study the wormhole created when the Protostar exploded, a rift that leads 52 years into the future. Gwyn, meanwhile, has set off for her homeworld Solum, hoping to prevent the civil war that will one day destroy it, and keeps in touch with Dal by video. Bored and suspicious, Dal talks his friends into exploring the restricted Shuttlebay 3, where they find a cloaked experimental ship, the Infinity. Listening in on senior officers, they learn the truth: the real mission is to rescue Captain Chakotay from Solum in the future, and Starfleet Command has ordered it called off.
