Asylum

Hoping to earn goodwill before handing over the Protostar, the crew rescue an endangered aquatic creature from poachers, though Gwyn is distracted by fragments of her father's words. They then reach Starfleet communications relay CR-721 and ask Lt Barniss Frex for asylum. His scans reveal that Murf is a Mellanoid slime worm, while Dal's triggers an order to report to Starfleet Command. Aboard the USS Dauntless, Admiral Janeway is revisiting Chakotay's departure on the Protostar in a holodeck recreation when word comes that the ship has been found. When Frex links the station to the Protostar, the Diviner's weapon awakens and the station turns on itself. Frex flees in an escape pod, blaming the kids, who leap across space to their ship and are pulled in by Janeway's tractor beam. Gwyn's memory returns: the Protostar itself is the weapon. At Tars Lamora, the Dauntless finds the Diviner alive and takes him aboard.
