Hiding in a ship graveyard, Picard concludes that the Changelings want to build a perfect copy of him to strike at Starfleet's 250th Frontier Day celebrations. Geordi battles to keep Data in charge of the synthetic body as the scheming Lore pushes through. Using Jack, whose telepathic abilities are emerging, as bait, Picard lures Vadic and her crew aboard the Titan and traps them behind force fields. Interrogated by Picard and Beverly, Vadic says she is hunting Jack for someone else, and reveals that she was one of ten Changelings experimented on by Starfleet doctors to create super-spies. After escaping, she swore revenge and took the form of her torturer. Picard decides Vadic must die, but Geordi cannot revive Data in time. Lore seizes the ship's computers and drops the force fields, freeing Vadic, whose crew capture Seven, Shaw and the bridge. Vadic then tells Jack she knows his true nature and summons him to the bridge.
