Inside his own mind, Picard relives a childhood memory in which his father Maurice appears to chase him and his mother Yvette through the house. With Tallinn's help he realises that his mother was struggling with mental illness, and that Maurice was trying to protect them both. Picard wakes from his coma, and Tallinn reveals that she is a Romulan, possibly an ancestor of Laris. Suspecting that Q has a personal stake in this trial, Picard asks Guinan to summon him with an El-Aurian ritual. It fails, and FBI agent Martin Wells walks in and arrests them both, having caught Picard's transport on surveillance footage. Rios secretly brings Teresa and her son aboard La Sirena and admits he is a time traveller. Raffi and Seven discover Borg encryption in the ship's computers and track Agnes, realising the Queen is chasing endorphins until she is strong enough to assimilate others.
