Sutra murders a fellow synth, Saga, and lets Narek escape so that he takes the blame. Narek persuades Raffi, Rios and Elnor to help him destroy the beacon. Jurati frees Picard, and they take La Sirena into space, using a device from Soong that fills Romulan sensors with phantom copies of the ship to hold off Oh's fleet. Aboard the Artifact, Seven defeats Narissa, sending her to her death. Soong discovers Sutra's deception and shuts her down. A Starfleet fleet led by Riker aboard the USS Zheng He arrives to face the Romulans, and Picard persuades Soji to switch off the beacon, after which Oh's fleet withdraws. Picard then dies of his illness, and his mind is transferred into a synthetic body. Before he wakes, he meets Data's consciousness and grants his old friend's wish to finally die. The Federation lifts its ban on synthetics, and La Sirena heads out with its new crew.
- 01Riker's scenes aboard the USS Zheng He were filmed on a redressed Star Trek: Discovery set. Jonathan Frakes directed himself while directing a Discovery episode.
- 02Isa Briones sings Irving Berlin's “Blue Skies” at the close, recalling Data's performance of the song in Star Trek: Nemesis.
