The Spy Humongous

With the Pakleds attacking Federation trade routes, Captain Freeman travels to Pakled Planet to negotiate a ceasefire. Meanwhile a Pakled requests asylum aboard the Cerritos, and Ransom and Kayshon are sure he is a spy. They are right, but his clumsy espionage ends when he mistakes an airlock for a bathroom and blows himself into space. Once rescued, he is sent home, where Freeman flatters him into revealing the Pakleds' plan to strike Earth with a powerful bomb. Below decks, Boimler is recruited by the Redshirts, a clique of career-obsessed ensigns led by Casey. While Mariner, Tendi and Rutherford collect hazardous anomalies, Tendi handles one in a bad mood and turns into a giant scorpion-like creature. As the Redshirts make speeches, Boimler makes a fool of himself to make her laugh, which changes her back. He tells the disapproving Redshirts that real leaders look after their crew, and earns Ransom's praise.
