To get through a dangerous region of space, Phlox puts the human crew into comas and runs the ship with only T'Pol and Porthos for company, but days of isolation start to take their toll.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
On the way to Azati Prime, Enterprise must cross a trans-dimensional disturbance that would cause permanent damage to the human brain. Rather than lose two weeks going around it, Phlox places the human crew in induced comas for the four-day crossing at impulse. He keeps the ship running with T'Pol, walks Porthos, watches old films and writes to his colleague Dr Lucas. As the days pass, Phlox grows anxious and jumpy. He believes Xindi-Insectoids have boarded, sees crew members who should be asleep, and is reminded by T'Pol that Denobulans hallucinate under stress. When the anomaly appears to have grown, Phlox must start the warp engines himself, coached by T'Pol, to get the ship clear. Once he revives Archer, he learns the truth: T'Pol had been unconscious in her quarters all along, and his companion was a hallucination.
