While testing a shuttlepod's autopilot, Tucker is attacked by an Arkonian ship and forced down on one of a planet's many moons. The Arkonian pilot, Zho'Kaan, crashes nearby. Each tries to take the other prisoner before they accept that survival matters more than the quarrel, and an uneasy partnership begins. Aboard Enterprise, Archer contacts an Arkonian warship whose captain wants humans out of their territory, but persuades him to join a search of the sixty-two moons. On the surface, Tucker and Zho'Kaan salvage parts from both wrecks to get a signal out. As the moon's sun rises, the temperature becomes deadly. Interference rules out the transporter, so Archer persuades the Arkonian captain to send a specially modified shuttle. Tucker refuses to leave without Zho'Kaan, and both are rescued. Zho'Kaan thanks Tucker, and T'Pol notes they achieved in a day what the Vulcans had failed to manage with the Arkonians in a century.

  1. 01Rick Berman likened the story to the film Enemy Mine and promised plenty of action and suspense.
  2. 02Gregg Henry had previously played a Son'a in Star Trek: Insurrection.
  3. 03In his heat-addled ramblings, Tucker mentions the ringed moons of Matalas Prime, named after Terry Matalas, then a producer's assistant and later showrunner of Star Trek: Picard.
