Enterprise sets course to study a black hole in a triple star system, and the crew pass the journey on personal projects that become strangely hard to put down.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Enterprise heads for a black hole in a trinary star system, a journey of several days. To fill the time, crew members take on personal projects: Archer writes about his father, Tucker rebuilds the captain's chair, Hoshi helps out in the galley, Reed designs a new tactical alert system and Phlox investigates Mayweather's headache. As the ship draws nearer, each of them becomes obsessed with the task in hand. Tempers flare, Reed and Tucker almost come to blows, and Phlox sedates an unwilling Mayweather to carry out tests. Only T'Pol is unaffected, and she traces the cause to unusual radiation from the black hole. When the rest of the crew collapse, she rouses Archer just enough to fly the ship on a risky shortcut through the radiation. An asteroid blocks the way, but Reed's automated alert fires the phase cannons and clears it. Enterprise escapes, and life returns to normal.
