Whistlespeak

Kovich gives Burnham the names of the scientists who hid the Progenitors' technology, and the latest clue leads to Dr Hitoroshi Kreel, a Denobulan expert in weather control. His trail ends on Halem'no, a dry pre-warp world where the rain comes from a tower he secretly built and disguised as a mountain. Burnham and Tilly beam down in disguise and learn the locals' whistled language. Tilly enters the Journey of the Mother Compeer, a race run without water, while Burnham finds the tower's machinery failing. Tilly finishes alongside a young local, Ravah, and both are led into the summit temple, where Burnham realises the winners are to be sacrificed to bring rain. To save them, Burnham breaks the Prime Directive and shows Ravah's father, the priest Ohvahz, the truth about the tower, and he stops the ritual. Tilly then works out that the clue lies in tower five. Meanwhile, Culber wrestles with a spiritual experience left by Jinaal.
