All Is Possible

Ni'Var speeds up its negotiations to rejoin the Federation, and President Rillak asks Burnham and Saru to take part. Meanwhile Culber suggests that Tilly, who has been unsure of her place aboard Discovery, lead a group of new Starfleet Academy cadets on a team-building exercise, with Adira along to help. The cadets are barely speaking to each other when their shuttle is knocked off course and crashes on a hostile, frozen moon. Forced to work together to survive, they finally bond and manage to signal a Starfleet ship for rescue. Back at Federation Headquarters, Dr Kovich offers Tilly a teaching post at the Academy. The Ni'Var talks stall when Ni'Var insists on a way out of the union, but Burnham and Saru broker a compromise: an independent committee to oversee the relationship, with Burnham serving on it as a citizen of both. Tilly accepts the post and says goodbye to Discovery.
