Scavengers

Discovery is refitted with 32nd century technology, including detached nacelles and programmable matter, and the crew relish their upgrades. Book, meanwhile, has failed to return from hunting a starship black box that could help explain the Burn. Ignoring orders to stay put, Burnham recruits Georgiou for an unsanctioned rescue. They travel to Hunhau, a salvage world run by the Emerald Chain, where Georgiou poses as a buyer to distract Tolor, nephew of the Chain's leader Osyraa, while Burnham finds Book among the enslaved workers, including the Andorian Ryn. Together they free the prisoners, recover the black box and escape. Burnham and Book share a kiss, but back on Discovery she faces the consequences: Saru removes her as first officer. Georgiou, meanwhile, is suffering strange episodes in which she seems to slip into the Mirror Universe.
