Far from Home

Discovery bursts out of the wormhole and crash-lands on an icy planet, with power down, systems failing and crew injured. While Stamets and the bridge crew work to restore the ship, Saru and Tilly walk to a nearby settlement in search of the materials needed for repairs. They discover that dilithium is scarce and that the local miners live under the thumb of Zareh, a ruthless courier who sees the stranded crew as easy prey. When the encounter turns violent, Georgiou, who has quietly followed the away team, steps in and overpowers Zareh's gang, although Saru will not allow her to execute their leader. Back at the ship, Stamets restores main power, but a creeping parasitic ice is crushing the hull. Just in time, a tractor beam pulls Discovery free. The rescuer is Michael Burnham, who reveals that she arrived in this century a full year before them.
