A fifth red signal appears over Boreth, the Klingon monastery world where time crystals are guarded, and a crystal could power a new suit to keep the sphere data from Control. L'Rell lets Pike visit, and he is met by Tenavik, a timekeeper who is secretly the son of L'Rell and Tyler, aged far beyond his years by the crystals. Before Pike can take one, it shows him his own future: a terrible accident that will leave him badly injured and disabled. He accepts that fate and takes the crystal. Meanwhile, Burnham and Spock trace a Section 31 ship whose crew have been killed. Its only survivor, Kamran Gant, turns out to be Control in disguise, and nearly infects Burnham before Spock intervenes. With Control's fleet now bearing down, Burnham concludes that the only way to keep the data from Control is to destroy Discovery, and Pike orders the crew to abandon ship.
