Sarek and Admiral Cornwell board Discovery and, after a forced mind meld with Saru, accept the crew are who they claim to be. The news is grim: the Klingon houses are each fighting their own war, Starbase 1 has fallen, and the Federation is close to defeat. Tyler, freed of Voq's personality but carrying his memories, faces his crewmates. Tilly and others choose to welcome him back, but Burnham, though she still cares for him, cannot get past what he did. Stamets finds a way to grow spores rapidly on a moon, restoring the drive. Georgiou reveals that in her universe the Terrans defeated the Klingons by striking at Qo'noS itself, and she offers to lead such a mission. Facing defeat, Cornwell and Sarek agree. The Emperor is given back her freedom and takes command of Discovery, posing as the Starfleet captain who died at the Binary Stars.

DID YOU KNOW?

  1. 01Admiral Cornwell refers to Captain Archer's Enterprise visiting Qo'noS almost a century earlier.
  2. 02Starfleet classifies everything about the mirror universe, which helps explain why Kirk's crew knows nothing of it in “Mirror, Mirror”.
  3. 03Writer Lisa Randolph also wrote “The Wolf Inside” earlier in the season.
