Lorca breaks free on the Charon, rallies his loyal followers, including the mirror Landry, and storms the throne room. The flagship is powered by a reactor that feeds on the mycelial network, and its spread threatens all life in every universe. With Saru in command, Discovery's crew refuses to accept a no-win scenario and plans to destroy the reactor, then ride the shockwave home. Burnham and Georgiou fight side by side against Lorca. Georgiou finally runs him through, and he falls into the reactor. As the Charon collapses, Burnham, unable to leave the woman who looks like her captain to die, pulls Georgiou with her as she beams out. Discovery destroys the reactor and jumps through the mycelial network, using the blast to carry it home. It arrives safely in its own universe, but nine months later, to find the Klingons have all but won the war.
