Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSISHIDE SYNOPSIS

Discovery has jumped into a parallel universe ruled by the Terran Empire, a brutal human regime fighting a rebellion of Vulcans, Klingons and others. With Stamets unconscious, the crew cannot jump home. Their best hope is information about the USS Defiant, a Federation ship known to have crossed between universes. To get it, they must pose as their own counterparts. Tilly is made to play the ruthless captain of the ISS Discovery, and Burnham learns that her double, captain of the ISS Shenzhou, is presumed dead. Meanwhile, Tyler is haunted by flashbacks and confronts L'Rell, who tries to provoke something hidden inside him. When Dr Culber's scans reveal that Tyler's body has been surgically altered, Tyler snaps his neck. Burnham and Lorca, posing as her prisoner, beam to the Shenzhou, where she kills her ambitious mirror crewman Connor to secure her command. Lorca ends the episode in an agony booth.

DID YOU KNOW?

  1. 01The showrunners planned the mirror universe story from the start, but held it back until viewers knew the main characters.
  2. 02The idea of making Tilly's double a captain came from her own stated ambition to command a starship.
  3. 03The search for the USS Defiant ties the story to the original series' “The Tholian Web” and Enterprise's “In a Mirror, Darkly”.
