The mirror universe's Ezri arrives with word that Grand Nagus Zek, who crossed over looking for new business, has been captured by the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. The price of his release is a cloaking device, so Quark and Rom steal one from General Martok's ship, hiding it by cloaking the device itself. Forced to cross over with Ezri, they reach Terok Nor, now held by the human rebels, who arrest them rather than let the Alliance gain cloaking technology. The mirror Brunt frees them and takes them to the Regent, but the Ferengi learn that the mirror Kira planned the whole scheme and never meant to free Zek. When Brunt pleads for the prisoners, Kira kills him, and Ezri, appalled, turns against her lover. Rom secretly sabotages the cloak as he installs it, draining the Alliance ship's power, and Ezri poisons Garak. The powerless ship falls to the rebels, and the Ferengi return home.
- 01Ira Steven Behr wanted one more Quark and Rom episode before the series began its final arc.
- 02Armin Shimerman and Max Grodénchik practised for three days to make the scene with the invisible cloaking device work.
