Sisko, Jake, Joseph and Ezri Dax travel to the desert planet Tyree to find the Orb of the Emissary, the key to restoring the Prophets. As Sisko digs in the sand, he is overtaken by visions in which he is Benny Russell, last seen in “Far Beyond the Stars”, now held in a psychiatric hospital. Sisko presses on, unearths an Orb ark and opens it. A burst of energy reopens the wormhole and expels the Pah-wraiths, and a Prophet reveals that she inhabited Sarah in order to ensure Sisko's birth. Meanwhile, Kira blockades Derna with Bajoran ships to stop the Romulans arming the moon, and when the wormhole returns, Admiral Ross persuades the Romulans to back down. Far away, Worf leads a Klingon raid with O'Brien, Bashir and Quark, destroying a Dominion shipyard so that Jadzia can enter Sto-Vo-Kor.

  1. 01The writing on Benny Russell's cell walls is real handwriting chronicling all of DS9. Michael Okuda based it on summaries from an early draft of the Deep Space Nine Companion.
  2. 02Brock Peters makes his final on-screen appearance as Joseph Sisko.
  3. 03The scenes on Tyree were filmed on sand dunes in Palmdale, California.
