A man who looks exactly like Kira's lost love Vedek Bareil arrives from the mirror universe, and Kira finds herself drawn to him despite his past.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
A man from the mirror universe transports onto Deep Space Nine and takes Kira hostage. He is the counterpart of Vedek Bareil, the man she loved and lost. His escape attempt fails and he is detained, but he convinces Kira that he was only fleeing the brutal Alliance, and she persuades Sisko not to press charges. As Bareil attends a Bajoran ceremony and shares dinner with Worf and Dax, Kira lets herself grow close to him, and they spend the night together. It is a con. Bareil is working with the Intendant, Kira's mirror double, who has come over to steal a sacred Orb. At the shrine, though, the Orb shows Bareil a vision of a life with Kira. Knowing he could never live up to it, he turns on the Intendant, stuns her and takes them both back to their own universe.
- 01It is the only televised Mirror Universe story set mainly in the main Star Trek universe rather than the mirror one.
- 02Ira Steven Behr and Hans Beimler did uncredited rewrites on the script.
- 03Worf's bat'leth trophy from the Next Generation episode “Parallels” can be seen on a shelf in his quarters.
