Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
With the station back in Federation hands, Worf and Dax decide to marry at once, and the ceremony must follow Klingon tradition. To join the House of Martok, Dax needs the approval of Sirella, Martok's proud and exacting wife, who clearly thinks little of her. Meanwhile Worf leads Sisko, Bashir, O'Brien and his son Alexander through a gruelling Klingon ritual of their own. Dax prefers a riotous party to Sirella's solemn rituals, and when she mocks Sirella's family history, the two women come to blows and the wedding is called off. Sisko tells Dax plainly that marrying Worf means respecting what matters to him. Dax swallows her pride, apologises and goes through Sirella's rites. The wedding goes ahead with Sirella's blessing and ends with the guests cheerfully attacking the newlyweds with padded staffs, as tradition demands.
- 01Sirella is played by Shannon Cochran, who had played Kalita in TNG's “Preemptive Strike” and DS9's “Defiant”.
- 02Ronald D. Moore used the episode to establish that Klingon women run the Great Houses while men run the Council.
- 03Marc Worden makes his second and final appearance as Worf's son Alexander.
