Sisko's damaged ship crash-lands on a barren planet, leaving Dax badly hurt. A Jem'Hadar unit has also crashed there, led by the injured Vorta Keevan, who holds the ketracel-white his soldiers depend on. The Jem'Hadar capture Garak and Nog, and their commander Remata'Klan demands that Bashir treat Keevan. With his supply of white running out, Keevan secretly offers Sisko his own soldiers' attack plan in return for surrender, sending them to their deaths. Sisko reluctantly accepts, but first tells Remata'Klan of the betrayal. Remata'Klan already suspects it, yet insists his duty to the Vorta comes first. The Jem'Hadar are wiped out. On Deep Space Nine, Kira realises her quiet cooperation with the Dominion resembles the collaboration she once despised. After Vedek Yassim takes her own life in public protest, Kira decides to resist.

DID YOU KNOW?

  1. 01The story drew inspiration from the 1965 film None but the Brave, about American and Japanese soldiers stranded together on an island.
  2. 02Location filming took place in Soledad Canyon, in punishing heat.
  3. 03A final scene of the Rotarran rescuing the crew was cut for time. Director Mike Vejar felt ending on Sisko's face as Keevan surrenders was stronger.
