The Wadi, the first Gamma Quadrant species to make formal contact, have little interest in diplomacy and head straight for Quark's tables. When they catch Quark cheating, their leader Falow insists he play their own game, Chula, instead. At the same moment Sisko, Kira, Dax and Dr Bashir vanish and wake in a strange maze, forced through a series of baffling and dangerous challenges: a hopscotch rhyme to pass a force field, a party filled with choking gas, and a climb during an earthquake. They are the playing pieces, and every move Quark makes affects them. Bashir disappears after Quark gambles on a risky shortcut, and the frightened Ferengi realises the stakes. When the game ends, all four officers reappear unharmed in the bar. Falow cheerfully explains it was only a game and they were never in real danger, and Odo steers Sisko's anger towards Quark's cheating.
