Seven hundred years in the future, a Kyrian museum presents its people's version of history: Voyager was a brutal warship whose captain, Janeway, helped the Vaskans subjugate the Kyrians and unleashed a biogenic weapon on them. Curator Quarren then activates a backup copy of the Doctor, found among the ship's relics. Horrified, the Doctor insists that the record is false: Voyager was simply caught in the middle of the conflict, and the crew never started the violence. His testimony sets off fierce argument between Kyrians and Vaskans, and the tension erupts into rioting. With violence spreading, Quarren chooses truth over stability and stands by the Doctor. A closing scene, itself a later museum exhibit, reveals that this moment became a turning point towards equality. The Doctor stayed for years as surgical chancellor before setting off for home.
