A bewildered alien suddenly appears aboard Voyager just as a crew member vanishes, and the exchanges keep happening.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
A confused Nyrian named Dammar suddenly materialises aboard Voyager at the same moment Kes disappears. Every few minutes another crew member vanishes and another Nyrian takes their place. Janeway does her best to make the newcomers comfortable while locking down the ship, but Torres cannot work out the cause. As the crew dwindles, the Nyrians reveal their real purpose and take over. Chakotay, the last to go, takes the Doctor's mobile emitter with him. The crew find themselves in a simulated habitat aboard a vast Nyrian ship holding many captive species, all taken by the same quiet method instead of war. A long-held prisoner, Jarlath, shows them how to find hidden doorways, and Torres uses the emitter to detect them. Janeway, Tuvok, Torres and Paris escape into the corridors. Paris and Torres hide in a freezing habitat, while Janeway and Tuvok seize the controls and turn the cold on Dammar. He surrenders, and the crew reclaim their ship.
- 01Lisa Klink wanted to try something different: a plot-driven ensemble story rather than a character piece.
- 02The Nyrian corridor sets were modified versions of the Borg interior sets built for “Unity”.
- 03Mark L. Taylor, who plays Jarlath, had appeared as Haritath in The Next Generation's “The Ensigns of Command”.
