Kes, now nine and at the end of the Ocampa lifespan, is placed in the Doctor's biotemporal chamber to extend her life. She wakes confused, surrounded by family, and learns she is married to Tom Paris and has a daughter, Linnis, who is herself married to Harry Kim. Then she jumps further back, again and again, remembering the future but not the past. Piece by piece she discovers that Voyager survived a devastating year of attacks by the Krenim, in which Janeway and Torres were killed. The cause of her condition is chroniton radiation from a Krenim torpedo, triggered by the chamber. During the Year of Hell she learns the exact variance of the Krenim torpedo, but she keeps regressing towards her own birth. The data finally lets the Doctor return her to her proper present, before the Krenim arrive. At her birthday party Kes keeps the future to herself but promises a report on the Krenim.
