After a shuttle crash on a planet's surface, Janeway and Chakotay find themselves reliving the same disaster again and again, each version ending in death.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Janeway and Chakotay's shuttle is forced down by electrical interference from a planet and crashes. Chakotay revives Janeway with CPR, but events begin to repeat: they are killed by Vidiians, and they relive the crash in a cycle of loops. In another version Janeway contracts the Vidiian phage and the Doctor ends her life to spare her suffering. Then she finds herself a ghost aboard Voyager, unseen by the grieving crew as they hold her memorial. Her late father, Admiral Janeway, appears and gently urges her to let go and come with him. Janeway grows suspicious of his insistence, and the truth emerges: he is an alien entity that feeds on the neural energy of the dying and needs her to accept her death willingly. Holding on to her life and to her crew, Janeway refuses. She returns to her body on the planet's surface, is revived, and later makes a full recovery on Voyager.
