Harry Kim wakes up in San Francisco beside his girlfriend, with a job at Starfleet and no record of ever having served on Voyager.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
After a shuttle accident, Harry Kim wakes up in his San Francisco apartment beside his girlfriend, Libby. In this reality he never joined Voyager: he works at Starfleet's shuttle development centre, and another officer, Daniel Byrd, took his place on the ship that vanished in the Badlands. Tom Paris was never assigned to Voyager either. Kim still remembers the Delta Quadrant, and his attempts to read classified files on Voyager leave him under suspicion and fitted with a tracking anklet. Cosimo, the owner of his favourite café, turns out to be an alien who watches over the timestream. He explains that the accident pushed Kim into the wrong timeline, and that recreating it exactly might send him back. Torn between a happy life on Earth and his crewmates far away, Kim chooses Voyager. With Paris's help he steals a runabout, recreates the accident and finds himself back in his own timeline, where Voyager beams him safely aboard.
- 01The stardate Libby gives Kim, 49011, is the same one used in a log entry by Captain Sisko at the end of Deep Space Nine's “The Way of the Warrior”.
- 02Kim's clarinet playing was mentioned in the pilot, but this is the first time viewers see him with the instrument.
- 03Reuses footage from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and from The Next Generation episode “Relics”.
