During a foraging mission, Voyager detects a cloaked Kazon ship, and Chakotay pulls Seska back from the planet just in time. Soon afterwards a Kazon vessel suffers a catastrophic failure, and the crew find that it was fitted with Federation technology. Someone aboard Voyager has been helping the Kazon. Suspicion falls on Seska, a former Maquis, who beams over to the wreck claiming she can prove her innocence. A comatose Kazon survivor who might reveal the source is killed by Maje Culluh's bodyguard before he can talk. The investigation then finds that Seska has Cardassian blood, which she blames on a bone marrow transplant, and that a message was sent from engineering. Janeway and Chakotay set a trap. Seska is exposed as a Cardassian agent and admits she has been arming the Kazon, believing them a powerful ally. She beams away to a Kazon ship, which escapes when more Kazon vessels arrive.

- 03Location scenes were filmed in Bronson Canyon, in Los Angeles's Griffith Park.
