Admiral Nechayev relieves Picard of command and sends him, Worf and Crusher on a covert mission: to find and destroy a suspected Cardassian biological weapons facility on Celtris III. Taking over the Enterprise is Captain Edward Jellico, a brisk officer who reorganises the crew at once and quickly falls out with Riker, all while negotiating with the Cardassian envoy Gul Lemec as tensions rise along the border near Minos Korva. After intense training on the holodeck, the away team reach the planet with help from a Ferengi ship and make their way in. They find no sign of the weapon and realise they have walked into a trap. Worf and Crusher escape, but Picard is captured. He is now a prisoner of the interrogator Gul Madred, who reveals the facility was designed to lure him in. To be continued.
