After a wormhole knocks out the crew for thirty seconds, small details stop adding up, and the only one who can explain them, Data, is not telling the truth.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Approaching an unexplored star system, the Enterprise is thrown back by what appears to be a wormhole, and everyone except Data passes out. Data says they were unconscious for just thirty seconds. But odd clues pile up: a moss sample has grown a full day, Worf's wrist has been broken and set, and probe readings have been tampered with. Data is caught lying and refuses to explain, even to Picard. The crew returns to the system, where an alien intelligence takes over Troi and threatens them. The truth emerges: the Paxans, a fiercely private race, had stunned the crew. When they woke, Picard agreed to have their memories erased and ordered Data to keep the secret. Now the Paxans will destroy the ship. Picard persuades them to try again, this time leaving no clues behind.
- 01One of the first scripts bought under TNG's open submission policy, which let people outside the industry pitch stories.
- 02The script originally gave Wesley a large role and had to be rewritten after Wil Wheaton left.
- 03Worf's Klingon martial art, mok'bara, appears for the first time. Dan Curry devised it from tai chi.
