On his very first day aboard the Enterprise, an eager young Ensign Spock gets stuck in a turbolift with Number One, and he has a great many questions.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Ensign Spock reports for his first day aboard the USS Enterprise and is met by Number One, Captain Pike's first officer. As she takes him through the ship, their turbolift breaks down and leaves them stuck. Number One invites the earnest young Vulcan to ask her anything, and he takes her at her word, quizzing her on everything from the ship's systems and Pike's style of command to the ethics of the Prime Directive. As the wait goes on, the two realise they have more in common than either expected. Number One breaks into the Gilbert and Sullivan patter song “I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General”, and Spock joins in. Before the doors open, she gives him some advice: if he hopes to command one day, he should keep his stranger side to himself.
- 01Ethan Peck, Rebecca Romijn and Anson Mount first played Spock, Number One and Pike in Discovery's second season.
- 02Composer Nami Melumad later scored Strange New Worlds, where Ethan Peck, Rebecca Romijn and Anson Mount continue as Spock, Number One and Pike.
