Runaway

Ensign Sylvia Tilly, now in Starfleet's Command Training Program, is left rattled by a call in which her mother belittles her ambitions and compares her to her stepsister. Soon afterwards, in Discovery's mess hall, she runs into a stowaway who can turn invisible. The visitor is Po, a teenage Xahean who has fled her homeworld after inventing a way to grow dilithium, only to find her people more interested in exploiting it than in listening to her. Rather than reporting her, Tilly gets to know Po, and the two bond over the weight of other people's expectations. Tilly persuades her to go home, and only as Po prepares to beam back does Tilly learn the truth: Po is Xahea's future queen. Before leaving, she gives Tilly a dilithium crystal and invites her to visit one day.
