Kobayashi

A proto-warp jump has carried the Protostar about 4,000 light years into the Gamma Quadrant, and the drive is now offline. The rest of the crew want to head for the Federation, but Dal refuses, fearing they will be arrested for stealing the ship. Janeway shows the boys the holodeck, and Dal takes on the Kobayashi Maru on a recreated Enterprise-D bridge, choosing a crew of legendary officers including Spock, Uhura, Scotty, Odo and Dr Crusher. He fails again and again, until Spock's advice sinks in and he learns that the test cannot be won. Meanwhile Gwyn, recovering in sickbay, struggles with her father choosing the ship over her, and Zero comforts her. A flashback shows the Diviner, defying a group called the Order, having Gwyn created as his daughter. Gwyn unlocks damaged files showing that the Protostar's last captain was Chakotay, and Janeway realises this young crew is not her first.
