Lost and Found

On Tars Lamora, a mining colony in the Delta Quadrant where prisoners are kept from understanding one another, a young alien named Dal dreams of escape. The colony's ruler, the Diviner, and his robot enforcer Drednok are hunting a fugitive called Zero, and the Diviner's daughter Gwyn gives Dal one day to find them. Deep in the mines, Dal and a huge but gentle Brikar girl, Rok-Tahk, uncover a buried Starfleet ship, the USS Protostar, whose universal translator lets them talk for the first time. Zero, a Medusan in a containment suit, joins them, along with Tellarite engineer Jankom Pog and a gelatinous creature called Murf. When Gwyn discovers the plan, Drednok's Watcher robots close in, and the kids blast their way out of the mines, taking Gwyn with them as a captive. In space, a training hologram of Captain Kathryn Janeway activates, while the Diviner demands his ship back.
