As the assimilated fleet attacks Earth and President Anton Chekov broadcasts a warning, the Enterprise-D crew track the Borg Queen's cube to the clouds of Jupiter. Picard, Riker and Worf board it and find dead drones on which the weakened Queen has been feeding. While the fleet tears down Earth's planetary shields, Picard links himself to the Collective and persuades Jack to break free of her. Data flies the Enterprise-D through the cube to collect the boarding party, and the cube is destroyed, killing the Queen and freeing the assimilated officers. Picard's crew are pardoned and Beverly adapts the transporters to remove the Borg code and expose the remaining Changelings. A year later the Titan is renamed the USS Enterprise-G, with Seven as captain, Raffi as first officer and Ensign Jack Crusher as special counsellor. The old crew share drinks and poker, and Q appears to tell Jack his trial has only just begun.
