Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
After William's message reaches Brad, Starfleet sends the Cerritos to close a rift surrounded by a Schrödinger possibility field, which turns anything inside it into a version from another reality. Meanwhile Ma'ah and Malor seek asylum aboard, pursued by Captain Relga, sister of the Klingons Ma'ah killed. Relga fakes an order from Admiral Freeman demanding their surrender, but Ransom keeps Malor hidden until the deception is exposed. Olly drains Relga's shields, and the field transforms her ship and crew before it is destroyed. The Cerritos itself keeps changing between ship classes as it pushes on. When the rift cannot be closed, Mariner, inspired by Malor, builds a containment structure that leaves it permanently and safely open. Rutherford gives up his cybernetic implant for good to make the plan work. Freeman moves to Starbase 80 to oversee exploration of the multiverse, Ma'ah takes command of Relga's fleet, Ransom becomes captain, and Boimler and Mariner become provisional first officers.
- 01Inside the possibility field, Relga's Klingons are transformed into the 23rd-century look seen in Star Trek: Discovery.
- 02Its title nods to The Next Generation, as Picard's series finale “The Last Generation” also did.
