A Few Badgeys More

Answering a distress call from a Bynar ship, the Cerritos finds a Drookmani scavenger vessel that has been taken over by Badgey, Rutherford's murderous holographic creation. Rutherford and Mariner board to reason with him, and Badgey's conflicted feelings split him into separate personalities, including the cheerful Goodgey and the coldly rational Logic-y. Badgey comes close to destroying the Federation's ships, but after reaching omniscience through the subspace relay network he has a change of heart, apologises and departs for a higher plane of existence. Rutherford keeps Goodgey. Meanwhile Boimler and Tendi visit the Daystrom Institute, where they find Peanut Hamper and AGIMUS being rehabilitated. The pair appear to be plotting an escape, but Peanut Hamper has genuinely changed and leaves AGIMUS behind, inspiring him to try to reform too. AGIMUS shares a vital clue: the ships attacked across the quadrant were stolen, not destroyed.
